Remote Equipment Monitoring
Ecolab’s 24/7 monitoring platform for the refrigeration a commercial kitchen depends on.
Status: In production at Ecolab
Built with
- Flutter
- Dart
- C# / .NET
- Python
- AWS Fargate
- Amazon EC2
- Amazon S3
REM is the project I lead at Ecolab, and part of KitchenIQ, Ecolab’s platform for foodservice operations. It is also a live migration: the services behind it are moving from Python to C# on .NET while the product keeps reporting.
What it does
Wireless sensors track temperature across refrigeration equipment continuously, catching deviations before they turn into product loss or a compliance problem. Readings from every location land on one dashboard, and alerts are configurable by equipment type, threshold or schedule, pushed to the people who can act on them.
The job it replaces is a clipboard: someone walking the kitchen twice a shift, writing numbers on a sheet, and finding out about a failed walk-in the next morning.
Stack
Flutter and Dart on the client, one codebase across the devices a kitchen actually has.
Behind it, services moving from Python to C# on .NET, which is the bulk of my current work, running on AWS: Fargate, EC2 and S3.
